I start by understanding what the space needs to do, who will use it and how it should feel. What's working already? What could work harder? And where are the opportunities to make a difference?
With over 20 years of interior design and architectural consultancy experience, I bring creative thinking and technical understanding together; looking beyond appearance to develop designs that respond to the brief, the people using the space and the practicalities of bringing them to life.
For businesses and hospitality spaces
Perhaps you're planning a new space, updating an existing interior or finding that your current layout isn't working as well as it could. You might need to rethink how people move through the space, how different areas function, or how the lighting, furniture, materials and finishes come together to create the experience you want.
I work directly with business owners and operators to investigate what's possible and develop interiors that work for both the people using them and the business behind them.
Depending on the project, that might mean rethinking a layout, developing a new interior scheme, selecting materials and finishes, or bringing together the lighting, furniture and finer details.
My involvement can begin with investigating the brief and establishing a design direction, or start further along in the process.
I can then develop the design and prepare the drawings, specifications and technical details needed to communicate the proposals and support the next stages of the project.
The scope is tailored to the brief, the findings at the outset and the level of support needed. Not every space calls for the same approach, and the work is agreed around the needs of each project.
Working alongside other designers.
You've got the client and the creative direction, but perhaps you need another experienced pair of eyes to help work through a design challenge, develop the technical details or move a particular part of the project forward.
I work with architects, interior designers and design studios who need additional creative or technical expertise.
Sometimes there's a clearly defined piece of work to take on, such as developing a layout, producing technical drawings or resolving a tricky design detail.
At other times, the role is more collaborative, working through design challenges, exploring alternatives and helping develop the creative direction.
I'm comfortable working within an established design direction or contributing ideas and a fresh perspective where that's helpful.
My involvement depends on the project, the stage it's at and how we agree to work together.
Whether you need support with a specific task or a more involved design collaboration, I can bring additional expertise and capacity to help the project progress.
Optional support beyond the design.
If you'd like further input as your project moves into the build or installation stage, additional implementation support can be arranged separately. Depending on the project, this might include responding to design queries, reviewing details or helping resolve issues that arise as the work progresses.
We'll agree the scope of this involvement separately, so everyone understands what's included and where responsibilities sit.
